This is the time of year where we naturally start decluttering and spring cleaning. I believe it is because when the sun comes out, we can finally see all the dirt and junk and we are horrified.

You may have children’s items that are outgrown but are difficult to part with. See if you can repurpose them by making them into ornaments.

Baby’s socks turned into ornaments is a simple and meaningful craft. In my home, I saved one baby sock that had been worn by both of my children, and I hand-sewed a small loop of red satin ribbon to it to make it a tree ornament.

I have also saved and repurposed small dolls and game pieces from my children’s outgrown toys, in this same manner.

Clothing can also be sewn into pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals. It is easy to find tutorials on the web, and if you’re not a seamstress, you can also easily find a seamstress to do this for you (although this can be expensive).

This tutorial for making cloth Easter eggs from old baby clothes is so simple and so ideal for this time of year I almost can’t stand it.
