Seek out a perfume or fragrance oil that reminds you of the holiday season. You already know that scent is such a huge trigger of memories and feelings. Have such a scent available to you all year.

I have two: Blood Orange by Pacifica, and Sofia body spray by Sofia Vergara. (affiliate links)

Blood Orange reminds me of Christmas and I think there are 2 reasons for it. It smells like oranges, which I believe reminds me of being a child and receiving an orange in my Christmas stocking. And it doesn’t hurt that I first discovered this fragrance during a Christmas season. So it is probably linked to Christmas in my mind for that reason as well.

I picked up the Sofia body spray during a clearance sale. There is something in the fragrance that reminds me of pine trees, though it’s not a Pine-Sol note.

Traditional Christmas scents that are common in perfumes include citrus, clove, various evergreen/woody scents, cinnamon, and incense. You can read about all of these notes and recommended “Christmas” perfumes on the website fragrantica.com. Watch out, you may find yourself going down rabbit holes and reading for days. Also note that most of the perfumes recommended by the readers are expensive, but you can still find elegant Christmas perfumes at drugstore prices. The two that I recommended are both under $11 each.

I’m always looking out for new fragrances to try, so let me know your favorites in the comments.

Homemade sugar scrubs

Make your own sugar scrubs for bathing. This is so easy to make that I now keep a jar of sugar scrub in my shower all year 'round. In the winter, this helps with my dry, itchy skin. In the summer, it helps with exfoliation of exposed skin. These jars can also be put...
