I just put up my Christmas tree 2 days ago. Here we are less than 3 weeks until Christmas, and I had no tree. Even with all the cancellations due to the pandemic, my December is still shaping up to be pretty full with work obligations. For the first time ever I started to see the wisdom in those who put their trees up before Halloween.

So, as we put up the tree, my kids and I were considering if we wanted to do a different color scheme for matching ornaments this year. And this led to the question, “how many ornaments do we need?” Because we needed to determine if a new collection was even within budget.

That’s when I found this fun ornament and light string calculator developed by a PhD student. Check it out here!

And incidentally, we decided to go with an animal theme. We bought 11 new ornaments and filled in the rest of the branches with stuffed animals.
