Download the ibotta app to your phone. This is an app that works sort of like coupon-clipping, but it gives you cash back on your grocery and online purchases. And it really works! I had heard of this app quite some time ago, but I had mistakenly assumed it would be a lot of effort for not a lot of reward, and was probably spammy.

Then my sister told me it really works, so I tried it out, and within a month I had earned $70 cash back. You can get cash back on groceries, ebay purchases, some Amazon purchases, and various other online or in-store purchases. It is easy to use and it is not spammy.

To be completely honest, I did have trouble getting the app to send my $70 direct to my PayPal account, so I ended up getting a $70 Amazon credit instead. Since I’m pretty much conditioned to buy everything at Amazon anyway, for me this is the same as cash.

I can see using these refunds as Christmas savings!
