July is here, as well of a week of celebrations in the US and Canada! It is very unfortunate that this year in many places the celebrations will be more low key, or even “virtual”. But you can still celebrate at home…

I couldn’t resist planning for some extra sweet treats this week. Have some cake mix or ingredients on hand if you’d like to make a celebratory cake. We also had talked about fireworks cookies a couple weeks ago, so this week is perfect for those as well. On Saturday I’m sharing a recipe for candied popcorn. It uses light corn syrup (Karo syrup) and Jello for the coloring. I’m making mine red, white, and blue, but you can choose any Jello colors you like.

The rest of the week involves some journaling and planning. You might have some time off of work this week, which could leave some room in your schedule for introspection. Or some Christmas in July TV…

In other news, I wanted to share that I just finished reading a British chick-lit novel titled Christmas Every Day by Beth Moran. Although it is a cute story, it is NOT a Christmas novel! And so I was pretty disappointed. The cover looks like this:

Christmas Every Day book cover

Which appears Christmas-y, and the review blurbs indicate that it’s Christmas-y, but I know Christmas and this isn’t it. So I just wanted to let you readers know so you don’t make the same mistake I did.

Have a great week!
